Set up Perplexity

Connect Perplexity to GovData and query UK Government data in natural language.

Before you start

  1. Create a GovData account (free)
  2. Go to your console and create an agent
  3. Copy the agent's API key — it starts with gd_live_ or gd_test_

1.Open MCP settings

In Perplexity, go to Settings → Integrations → MCP Servers.

2.Add the GovData server

Add GovData with these details:

Server URL https://mcp.govdata.dev/mcp
Authentication Bearer token
Token YOUR_API_KEY

Replace YOUR_API_KEY with your actual API key from the console.

3.Try it out

Start a new conversation and ask:

"Search for recent UK legislation about artificial intelligence"

Perplexity will use the GovData legislation search tool to find relevant UK Acts and statutory instruments.
